The president of CRESO (Creando Suenos Olímpicos) affirmed that the support this entity provides to Dominican athletes, “is a complement” to the investment the Dominican Government does via the Ministry of Sports.
Mr. Felipe Vicini said he felt proud of the Dominican participation in these Olympic Games that are taking place here in London and the Dominican presence is represented by 35 athletes in ten sports disciplines.
“We are simply issuing a contribution in addition to the investment being made by the State” through the Ministry of Sports led by Felipe Payano. Vicini pronounced his speech during a reception hosted by CRESO and the Dominican Embassy in the UK for the delegation of athletes and has been following up on Dominican participation, attending all events where the Quisqueya natives are competing in.
The Government contributed over $68 million pesos in order to prepare the delegation that would take part in the Olympic Games, and many of the athletes in London as well, have received additional support from CRESO, a program created by a pool of Dominican businessmen. On his end, Payano praised Vicini for his words, and congratulated him for the initiative.
“It is a very important step for Dominican sports, that people with the quality and prestige of Felipe Vicini have taken an initiative of such a level”, said Payano, whom is also here in London following up on the Dominican participation in the games. He called upon the Dominican people to join the CRESO initiative, because as he said, “it is the best investment than can be made”.
“A well supported athlete, as a result has a good presence in each of the events he attends, and also in the future, we will have healthier, better prepared citizens”, said Payano.
